After installing patches on the WSUS server this month (June 2016), the WSUS console wouldn't start, giving a vague message: Unexpected Error. Mine is still not working, uninstalled WSUS & IIS with all components, reboot, reinstall everything manually because adding the role gives an error too. All the views I have created work fine, e.g. Its not a major problem as I can still view all the updates via their seperate folders / views but I would like this working at some point.

Login. This may be a transient error; try restarting the administration console. At this point you should be able to access the WSUS server from the console again. Run "C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\wsusutil.exe" postinstall /servicing from elevated cmd prompt.
