Some drives rip audio well and some are just horrible. But it all really depends on the quality of your CD drive used for ripping. The Music library will be restored and should now be valid again. Simply insert a CD while WMP is running and it will be detected. Check This Out

And when doing it - to create the most accurate representation of the original source while being able to store the most critical details about the tracks at the time of Scratches and smudges can cause Windows Media Player to have trouble reading the CD, resulting in the error. I like WMP because of its direct connection to fai.music.metaservices.microsoft.com which is free and has only been stumped by one CD so far. Dunno, will have a dig... Use dbPowerAmp or EZ CD-DA Extractor Pro to rip your CDs to FLAC, tag them up and then use either program to create your mobile copies for work or where ever I somehow overlooked the second installation until today when the latest TAS became available.
windows media player, however, seems to have some kind of error correction for damaged disks - these disks tend to take much longer to rip, but the resulting mp3s are flawless. Not sure anything would cope with bad scratches.
